The popularity of Marmaris as a holiday destination just keeps growing and growing. Dalaman airport has released figures of visitor numbers for 2014, the final figure for the year of those visiting the districts of Marmaris and the surrounding areas was 1.65 million tourists.
Approximately 700,000 of these visitors were British, 200,000 Russian, and over 30,000 from Arab countries.
The Marmaris office of TURSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies) annnounced that they were very pleased with the 2014 tourist visitors and it has had a positive impact on the area. The figures also show an increase of up to 12% of German tourists, a 2% increase from Britain Denmark and Poland, and a striking increase of 30% visiting from Arab countries (mostly from Jordan and Lebanon).
The main attraction to those visiting from countries such as Lebanon and Jordan is the vast richness of natural, historical and archaeological sites within easy reach of the Marmaris area.

TURSAB expects a further increase of tourists on the 2014 figures for the upcoming 2015 season.
